laundry

– brianprince

one. two. three. sort. she just won. the laundry awards. reds. blacks. stay home dad. holie crap. delicates. lights. whites causing fights. lint trap cleaner. female closet. three times deep. stopped doing it. for two weeks. a lesson learned. for no reason. can’t complain. won’t yell. just write in vain with feelings. hidden beneath.

because

i’m snuggles.
fabric. softener.

she’s stubborn.
brassy. clorox.

one. two. three.
fold.

stereotype

– brianprince

when i had
long hair
surfer they assumed.

brah.

with dread locks
for five years
i was rasta-farian.

mon.

volkswagen bus
stickers = one love
they never really knew.

who i was.

a businessman
making millions
on their ignorance.

cha-ching.

in this capitalist-
driven dwelling
i am a human.

being.

i’m a bruised banana
a used napkin as
raw and real as it gets.

squished.

and ripped.

but that still
shouldn’t
matter.

because.

it’s never
better to cast
upon us any kind of

judgements.

the man that never swore

– brianprince

innocent like the man who never swore. cautious like the baby-on-board sign in the rear window.

he found his children in the hospital.

fuck.

lefthand heavy

– brianprince

i raised the right hand
to God. He met me half
way and took it
graciously.

i lowered the left
to the devil.
hE yanked it before i
could become hesitant.

suddenly
i was the victim of
tug-o-
spiritual-war.

weighing the criticisms of each. receiving an even score.

God gently let go
knowing
i would return
with
a lesson learned.

the devil was clever
and never
let hIs knuckles
turn less than
white.

claiming this is all there is.
one life to live.

and now i learned my lesson
and want what’s right
to receive
heaven.

but i can’t because
hE won’t let go
as hE grips
my ring.

as hE explains
gravity.
