vanda orchids

– brianprince

with deft hands
a picker gathers vanda orchids
on the big island
where orchids
of every hue
blossom on
volcanic slopes
while growers
export a million
blooms a week
to the big big island
the mainland usa

the far east

and to her
sisters
maui
kaua’i
ni’ihau
o’hau
moloka’i
lana’i (dole
incorporated)
and
kaho’olawe

i swear they
were rare
but in all
i intertwine
i find the
cultivated
beauty.

race of the takers

– brianprince

we’ve been raised
in a way to just
take (take, take)
the future is Space
so they say as i seek
the outer limits i feel
this tremendous
amount of stress
as if
i’m burying
our ancestors faster
and faster. no wonder
our predecessors
used
the label
race (human).

our debt-to-progress
ratio is absolutely
mind-blowing.

but who cares (right)
the fittest will prevail (fight)
we (might) systemically and
molecularly evolve with
technologies such as
synthetic chemistry, farm factory,
and industrial forestry.
all while I’m here hurting
hurled over trampled by
the overtaking, the
exploitation, intoxication
and concentration of
power (gasp).

take it. or
(breathe)
leave
it.

process

there’s an art
to creating
art.

first place

– brianprince

full circle?
linear closure.

i can’t believe
this is the culture
i loved so much—
where i felt in touch—
a spike in my rhythm—
f#ck all the
Couch Protesters
seeking replies
and
Internet Therapists
seeking likes.

taking sides
under terms falsified
by profiled insights
that you read in
the highlights.

it’s not real life.

get off this device
because
manipulation hides
on the good side.

i talked with him today
on the phone
remember that?
an art even
academia forgot
and
if you really want to help
pick up the phone
and just be his
friend.

if you don’t have his number, then
perhaps you shouldn’t
have commented

in the
first
place.
